Here are 10 facts you need to know about the rise of eSports!

  1. eSports entertains a young and desirable demographic: Millennials. More than half of Esports Enthusiasts globally are aged between 21 and 35.

  2. eSports fans earn higher than average: Forty-three percent of eSports enthusiasts have an annual household income of $75,000 per year or higher — and nearly one third (31 percent) have an HHI2 of $90,000 or higher.

  3. Women make up a significant proportion of the fan base, registering 38 percent.

  4. Forty-nine percent of fans said that they spend most of their free time around eSports.

  5. Seventy-one percent of esports fans say that “watching professionals play makes me a better player.”

  6. Sixty-four percent only watch videos of games that they personally play.

  7. Fifty-three percent of fans say that esports athletes are on the same level as other professional athletes.

  8. Revenues for e-Sports are predicted to grow 25 percent in 2016.

  9. Canadian motion picture exhibitor Cineplex is spending $15 million to acquire an eSports company and create a new gaming league that will take place in its theatres.

  10. eSports in the US alone is projected to leap from $85 million in 2014 to $1.2 billion in 2018.
